Horst Arthur Vogel has a number of titles, including Chief Scientist in Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician of Swiss Academy of Sciences (2011), Fellow of the U.S. National Academy of Inventors (2014) and Lifetime Honorary Professor in Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) (18th in the QS World University Rankings). His positions in EPFL included Dean of the School of Physics and Chemistry, Dean of the School of Biomolecules and Member of the Research Committee. He mainly engages in the innovation of cutting-edge biotechnology represented by membrane protein function research. Addressing difficulties and key bottlenecks in the R&D of membrane protein drugs, he has invented a series of global pioneering biochip technologies that have systematically solved core problems in drug R&D. Authorization of seven of the cutting-edge patented technologies is offered to international large pharmaceutical companies.
